She was kidnapped for RM3,000

SHAH ALAM (Malaysia): 25-year-old Dora Goh was abducted by three men in a Toyota Camry after having alighted from her car at the parking lot of her office in Glenmarie Shah Alam at 9.15am on Wednesday.

Her kidnapping was witnessed by several people.

One eyewitness, identified only as Adri from Pakistan, said two men got out of the vehicle and grabbed her before pushing her into the car which was driven by a third man.

The news spread like wildfire when they sent out SMSes urging the public to be on the lookout for a Toyota Camry with the registration number 7641 driven by the kidnappers.

The message also urged the public to contact the police or a particular cellphone number.

Several bloggers went further by posting the woman’s photograph.

One blog even had a message by Ms Goh’s colleagues at Padini Dot Com Sdn Bhd.

“Our colleague, Dora Goh was kidnapped this morning at our office open parking lot in Glenmarie.

According to an eye witness, she was grabbed by 2 Chiness guys (One is fat, one is thin and tall) another Chinese guy is driving.

Our friend’s life may be at stake. Please help us help her.”

This was much to the ire of the police who felt the action could have jeopardised the woman’s life.

Fortunately, Ms Goh has been released unharmed at Taman Midah, Cheras, early Thursday, after a RM3,000 (S$1,300) ransom was paid.

Her family members picked her up and sent her to a hospital for a medical check-up.

Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the woman's release and said investigations were in progress.

Police have quizzed several people who they believe could help them in their investigations.

Ms Goh's mother, who only wanted to be known as Lee, expressed shock that her daughter had been kidnapped.

"Our family has no enemies and neither does my daughter as far as I know," her mother said.

Lee also complained about the "lax security" at the car park.

"She has to walk very far to get to her office from the car park and there are hardly any guards on duty."

Lee said the family had lived in Penang and moved to Kuala Lumpur about a year ago. They now live in Jinjang, Kepong.
