GEMAS, MALAYSIA: Popular singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin caused a stir among constituents here when she turned up on Friday night to show her support for Barisan Nasional candidates.

She arrived with husband Datuk Seri Khalid Mohd Jiwa at Taman Gemas Indah, one of the areas in the Gemas state seat where Barisan candidate Zainab Nasir is contesting.

Siti Nurhaliza said going on campaign rounds was a new experience for her and she was impressed with the many people who had turned up.

She and Khalid arrived with Tampin Barisan parliamentary candidate Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor, who is a good friend.

"I get charged up when I see many people gathering to hear the candidates. But for now, I do not intend to join politics," she said.

In her speech she advised those who turned up to make the right choice and think of the good that the Government has done which has allowed Malaysians to live peacefully.

Yesterday, Siti and husband dropped in on Yayasan Budi Penyayang's 'Happy Family' carnival at Dataran Senawang.

Penyayang chairman Nori Abdullah and chief executive officer Datuk Leela Mohd Ali joined some 5,000 people at the carnival.
