SIK, MALAYSIA: Alias Mahmud was looking for wild rattan in the jungle, near his village in Batu 5, here, when he heard a loud bang.

The next thing he knew, he was at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital.

The 34-year-old had passed out shortly after he was hit in the right thigh with 22 shotgun pellets.

Wild boar hunting is common in the area, and is usually carried out by farmers.
