Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Mr Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan is prepared to swear before an ulama that he had been sodomised by Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, said his father.
Mr Azlan Mohd Lazim, however, said this would only be done after police had concluded their investigations, the New Straits Times reported on Tuesday.
"My son is ready and willing to swear in a mosque that he was sodomised, as reported to the police," Mr Azlan said in a statement read out by Mr Saiful's lawyer, Mr Zamri Idrus at a press conference on Monday.
"My son has shown courage because the truth is on his side. He has given full cooperation in assisting the police in the investigation without hesitation, unlike his former employer who is full of excuses."
Also present was Mr Saiful's uncle, known only as Uncle Pat.
Mr Azlan said he was satisfied with the investigations so far but demanded that Mr Anwar give his cooperation.
"Anwar should undergo the DNA test," he said.
While expressing his sadness over the alleged sodomy incident, Mr Azlan said his son had made a bold move in lodging the report.
Mr Zamri said even though Mr Saiful was in good health and under police protection, he still feared for his life, said NST.
He also denied rumours Mr Saiful had received compensation for making the police report on June 28, or that he was a gay.
Following the report, police forensic personnel searched a unit at the Desa Damansara condominiums where the alleged incident took place
So far, police have recorded statements from more than 20 witnesses, including Mr Anwar.
