IPOH: A lorry driver was arrested for allegedly beating his 14-year-old daughter with a stick in Cameron Highlands.

Cameron Highlands OCPD Deputy Superintendent Yahaya Othman said the 43-year-old father had been suspected of beating the girl each time he was drunk.

"We believe this has been going on for years and we are investigating if her four siblings had been suffering the same fate," he said yesterday.

The girl, DSP Yahaya said, had run away from home after the latest incident where she suffered bruises on her face and body after she was repeatedly hit with a stick on Monday night.

"She then sought help from an uncle who took her to the Ringlet police station to lodge a report.

"We arrested the father at his home in Ringlet following that," DSP Yahaya said, adding that the father was being remanded for three days until Thursday.
