PETALING JAYA, Malaysia: Online news portal Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin again failed to appear for his sedition trial at the Sessions Court here.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Shah Rizal Abdul Manan told Sessions Court Judge Aslam Zainuddin that the arrest warrant issued against Raja Petra on April 23 when he failed to turn up in court had yet to be executed.

He said a show-cause notice for the editor's wife Marina Lee Abdullah - who is his bailor - to summon her to explain over Raja Petra's absence at the trial was also not executed.

Yesterday, Raja Petra's lead counsel J. Chandra applied to the court to adjourn sine die the case until the police succeeded in executing the arrest warrant against his client.

Aslam set July 17 for mention, saying the next course of action would be decided by trial judge Rozina Ayob. Rozina was away yesterday attending a meeting.

On April 23, the Petaling Jaya Sessions Court had issued a warrant of arrest against the former ISA detainee after he failed to turn up for his sedition trial.

On his news portal that same day, Raja Petra had posted his reasons over his non-attendance, claiming that he was in self-exile from Selangor because of a dispute with the state's royalty.
