Trainee pilot due for flying test killed in crash

RAWANG - A Royal Selangor Flying Club trainee died on his last solo flight before he was due for his pilot's licence test when his aircraft crashed into jungle in Lembah Beringin near here.

Mohd Ishan Sayyid Abu Tahir, 22, from Taman Melawar, Ampang, reported to the Subang airport control tower at about 4.20pm yesterday that his Eagle twin-seater light plane was experiencing problems during the flight from Ipoh.

Police received a call from the Department of Civil Aviation at 6.20pm alerting them of an aircraft that disappeared from the radar screen of the control centre.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Norel Azmi Affandi Yahya said a search was conducted by about 100 police, Fire and Rescue Services Department personnel with the help from the police's 4x4 team from Bukit Sentosa and a police helicopter.

Mohd Ishan's body was found at 8.35pm about 30m from the wreckage and his right leg was missing.

His body has been sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital.

According to Norel, the crash site was located 3km from the Beringin Golf Course, which also owns the land where the plane crashed.
