A CLERK became RM2,000 (S$$819) poorer after paying a 'love doctor' to learn jampi and ayat pengasih (love spells and charms) to get back the love of his life, Harian Metro reported.
The clerk said he was told to memorise weird spells that were not in line with Islamic teachings by a woman bomoh in her 50s who operated in Jalan Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur. The bomoh is said to be famous amongst celebrities and VIPs.
The clerk, who wanted to be known as Roslan, 30, said some of the spells were in an ancient language that veered towards the worship of jin and spiritual creatures.
He said he had heard 'rave reviews' about the bomoh's 'abilities' and decided to seek her help to get back his girlfriend, who had broken up with him without any reason after being together for a long time.
He reported the incident to the Sentul district police headquarters after the bomoh and her assistant threatened him when he questioned them about their deviant methods.
