Ayam serama to be Malaysia's national icon?

The Government is considering gazetting ayam serama (bantam chicken) as the country's heritage and a national icon, reported Berita Harian.

The daily quoted Deputy Rural Development and Regional Minister Datuk Hassan Malek as saying that the Government would intensify promotional programmes to increase awareness on ayam serama.

The promotion to breed the bird which originates from Malaysia could be included in the country's tourism agenda, he said.
