The Star/Asia News Network

Two women who were on their way home from Genting Highlands were killed when the car they were travelling in crashed and caught fire at Km11, Jalan Batang Kali near the Bayu Dingin waterfalls.

Low Lian Hooi, 56, and Tee Eng, 61, who were trapped inside the burning vehicle died on the spot.

It is learnt that the driver and a front seat passenger in the Kia Spectra, aged 53 and 54 respectively, managed to crawl out of the vehicle.

They were sent to the Selayang Hospital where they are being treated for minor burns. They were believed to be husband and wife.

Hulu Selangor OCPD Supt Norel Azmi Yahya Affendi said a punctured tyre had caused the 9pm accident on Thursday. The bodies were sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for post-mortem.

Family members said the four would frequent Genting Highlands at least three times a week and were on their way home to Ulu Yam when the incident occurred.
