Soldier dies by colleague's gun

IPOH, Malaysia: An army corporal has been killed from a shot fired from his colleague's rifle.

Kpl Mohd Din Derasah, 36, from Battalion Three of the Border Regiment based in Pengkalan Hulu, was shot during an operation at Temenggor Lake at 4.30am yesterday,

Gerik OCPD Superintendent Mahad Md Nor said the body had been sent to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for post mortem.

Pressmen were barred from taking pictures when the body arrived at the mortuary at 1pm.

They were also disallowed from speaking to Kpl Mohd Din's family members.

His body has been sent to his hometown in Kedah for burial.
