TWO years after chronicling his experiences of learning the Chinese language, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew will embark on another book to map the changes in Singapore's language policy.

In his new book, MM Lee will trace the development of Singapore's language policy since its independence in 1965 and also discuss the policy's successes and failures.

It's aim: To provide everyone with a better understanding of language change in Singapore and serve as a useful guide for future policy planning.

The new book will take stock of the language policy with analyses of undisclosed archives of students' results.

Past and current students will recount their experiences of learning the Chinese language and how the language policy has affected their lives.

Besides interviews with language experts, MM Lee will also shed light on the policy changes and reasons behind them.

The editor, Dr Chua Chee Lay, of Mr Lee's previous book, Keeping My Mandarin Alive: Lee Kuan Yew's Language Learning Experience, will once again be working on the yet-to-be-named book.

MP Seng Han Thong will be one of the advisors to the editorial team.
