Lions should be praised for achievements
Mon, Jun 09, 2008
my paper

I WOULD like to say "Thank you" to Mr Ishwar Mahtani for his timely wake-up call expressed in his letter "Still Dreaming about World Cup 2010? Time to wake up" (my paper, June 6).

It is regretful to note that our national team is perceived as if it is not fit to be at this stage of the World Cup qualifier because we are being "a little too naive".

It is sad that prior to our game against Uzbekistan, our commendable performance (against Palestine, Lebanon and Tajikistan) along the way in the pre-qualifiers are being brushed aside, just because we fared poorly against one of the strongest team in Asian football, which was, of course, prominently highlighted.

Let it spur us on to strive for better results in the years to come.

Just believe in yourself and don't give up hope easily.

Mr Ko Po Hui
