NSman ran over by bus, dies

BARELY half an hour after riding out of camp on Wednesday evening, Private Abdul Hadi Kamal died in a road accident along Old Chua Chu Kang Road.

The 20-year-old full-time national service (NSF) man was on his way home when his motorbike skidded and grazed the side of an SMRT bus. The bus ran over him, after he had fallen off the bike, said police.

On Thursday, family, friends and camp mates of Mr Hadi sent him off in a Singapore Civil Defence Force unit service ceremony - a ceremonial burial reserved for NSF, national service men and regulars, who die while in the line of duty.
