SINGAPORE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Brunei today to promote collaboration in various industries.

The agreement will enhance the partnership between both ministries, and further strengthen bilateral relations.

Singapore's Minister for National Development, Mr Mah Bow Tan, was in Bandar Seri Begawan to sign the agreement with Brunei's Minister of Industry and Primary Resource.

Under the agreement, both countries will exchange professional information regarding areas such as food production, trade and investment.

Speaking after the MOU signing ceremony, Minister Mah said, '[The MOU] opens new doors for collaboration and for the sharing of expertise and experiences.'

Private sectors, he added, are also encouraged to 'work hand-in-hand' with the Government to leverage on this 'enhanced partnership.'

Minister Mah is currently in Brunei as part of the 14th Singapore-Brunei Exchange Visit, which is being held from 13-15 March 2009.
