The Straits Times

A NEW $1 million fund to support initiatives that improve the lives of the elderly, disabled and their care-givers has been set up.

Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Vivian Balakrishnan announced the Sustainable Enhancements for Eldercare and Disabilities Services (Seed) fund on Thursday morning at a conference organised by the Centre for Enabled Living, a centre that refers those who need care to the help services available.

In his speech, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan also noted the stress care-givers face and pledged that more will be done to empower these care-givers. For example, the Centre for Enabled Living will develop more programmes to support care-givers and provide a seamless care delivery and referral pathway.
