New fire station opens on Jurong Island

THE 5,000 sq m Banyan Fire Station in Banyan Road, Jurong Island, started operations yesterday.

It has a fleet of 12 emergency vehicles, including fire engines and hazardous-materials vehicles, and is manned by about 80 officers in all.

It brings the Singapore Civil Defence Force's network to a total of 16 fire stations and 26 fire posts.
