WASHINGTON - PRESIDENT Barack Obama has decided top advisors will give him a daily economic crisis briefing, modeled on the daily intelligence briefing already given to US leaders, his spokesman said on Thursday.
Mr Obama had his first briefing on Thursday morning in the Oval Office, on just the second full day of his presidency, led by top economic advisor Lawrence Summers, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.
'It will be treated and prepared with the same sort of renowned professionalism that the daily intelligence briefing is done with.'
'The president asked that this be added each day to his schedule as the country is in the midst of an economic crisis and an economic emergency.
'And he felt it was important that each day he received the most up to date information as it relates to the economy,' Mr Gibbs said.
