A FORM Three girl is in a coma after being injured in a fight with two men attempting to rape her, reported Sinar Harian.

The incident happened at about 4.30pm on Thursday while the girl was walking to her family shop, some 1.5km from her school in Besut, Terengganu.

Deputy district police chief Deputy Supt Noor Zainy Mohd Nor said the girl was suddenly pulled into a car with tinted windows.

He said when the girl put up a fight, the suspect who was driving lost control of the car and crashed it into a drain.

The suspects subsequently abandoned the car and fled on foot, leaving the unconscious girl trapped between the two front car seats.

The girl, who suffered injuries on her nose, leg and neck, was rushed to the hospital at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian, where she later fell into a coma.

Following a tip-off, police arrested a 23-year-old man and a 15-year-old school dropout at a house in Kampung Alor Jejawi, Kuala Besut, some 5km from where the car was found.

He said one of the suspects, who was also injured in the accident, had thrown his blood-stained clothes into the undergrowth in an attempt to escape the police.
