$11mil spent via Visa cards on YOG opening day

MORE than US$8.3 million (S$11.2 million) was spent by international visitors here using Visa cards on the opening day of the Youth Olympic Games last Saturday.

This is an increase of nearly 50 per cent over the same day last year. The top spenders - who used credit, debit and prepaid Visa cards - hailed from the United States.
