A large python was spotted at the void deck of a HBD flat in Bishan recently, reported citizen journalism website STOMP.

Reader Kevin, who spotted the unlikely visitor the neighbourhood, said the reptile was resting at the bicycle stand at the void deck of Block 163.

He wrote in a contribution on August 25: "The snake was found at Block 163 in Bishan.

"It swam across Bishan Canal to Block 163 to enjoy the concrete jungle."

The recent snake sightings in S'pore heartlands within days of each other have caused many to wonder where these large reptiles come from.

In two separate incidents, other STOMP readers also sighted snakes at Beach Road and Jurong West. The former was spotted outside a grocery shop, while the latter was seen crawling into a drain.

Reader Chai Fong, who spotted the snake at Beach Road, said: "I was on my way to work at 8:30 am on August 24, when I saw a lot of people crowded around a grocery shop at Beach Centre, along Beach Road.

"There was a huge snake on the floor outside the shop.

"The shopkeepers were trapped inside the shop while customers could not get inside."

Another STOMP contributor Abdul Rahman told STOMP that he saw a python at Jurong West, Street 42.

He said: "We called the police at about 1.58 am on August 24, but received a call from pest control at 2.04 am, saying they were still at the East and could not come."

While waiting for pest control to arrive, the python had apparently slithered away into the side drain.
