SAF regular dies while doing IPPT

SINGAPORE - A Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) regular serviceman collapsed and subsequently died while participating in an an Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) at Tengah Air Base (TAB).

Major (MAJ) Toh Tze Wah Edi, 49, an Air Warfare Officer from Air Defence and Operations Command, collapsed at 9.11am this morning. He was at the halfway mark of the 2.4km run of the IPPT when he collapsed.

He was brought to the TAB Medical Centre where an SAF doctor attended to him, and then then sent via an ambulance immediately to the National University Hospital (NUH), but was pronounced dead at 10.24am at NUH.

MINDEF is assisting the family and investigating the incident.

Colonel Gan Siow Huang, Commander Air Surveillance and Control Group said that MAJ Toh had contributed 29 years of service to the Republic of Singapore Air Force  (RSAF) and was a dedicated instructor for a significant part of his career.
