I REFER to the letter, "Are kids not allowed to use pillows at care centres?" (my paper, Dec 4), by Ms Jackie Chang.
Ms Chang had queried whether children are permitted to use pillows during their afternoon naps in childcare centres.
The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports does not have guidelines prohibiting parents from taking children's personal effects, such as bolsters and pillows, to childcare centres.
The ministry leaves it to centres to work out suitable arrangements with parents on bedding, taking into consideration children's needs.
We hope that childcare centres will work closely with parents on arrangements suitable for both parties, while maintaining hygiene standards.
We would like to clarify that we did not receive Ms Chang's feedback regarding this matter in September.
We would like to assure her that the ministry takes feedback seriously.
Members of the public may contact us via our toll-free information line on 1800-258-5812 or via e-mail at mcys_child_care _link@mcys.gov.sg should they have any queries pertaining to childcare matters.
