PEKAN (Malaysia): A boy's good intention to accompany a lonely 72-year-old neighbour turned into a nightmare when he was sodomised by the septuagenarian.

The 12-year-old agreed to sleep at the neighbour's home after the suspect, a Cambodian with permanent resident status, claimed that he was lonely.

The suspect lives alone in Kampung Pasir Panjang here after his wife and children, who did not have valid travel documents, were deported to Cambodia recently.

He asked permission from the victim's father to allow his son to stay with him before committing the offence on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday, he wanted to repeat the act but this time, the victim refused and rushed home.

Police said the man was arrested at his home on Thursday.
