A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy was injured in his left eye after a battery in his toy car exploded, the China Press reported.

Yu Tian Qiang was playing with the toy at his home in Kahang, Johor, when the incident happened on Saturday.

Doctors removed five shattered pieces of the exploded AA battery from his eye.

His father Yu Shui Fa said the toy was a gift from Tian Qiang's brother given two days ago.

He said the boy was still suffering from pain in the swollen eye and blurred vision.
