KABUL, Aug 11, 2008 (AFP) - A suicide car bomb exploded near a military school in the Afghan capital Kabul on Monday, killing at least three people and injuring 12 others, officials said.
"A suicide car bomb exploded on the Pul-i-Charki road, killing three people and injuring 12 others, all civilians," top police official General Alishah Paktiawal told AFP.
General Mohammad Zahir Azimi, the defence ministry spokesman, said 12 people were injured but had no information about the deaths.
The attack was the second of the day in the Afghan capital. Earlier, a police officer was killed and two others were injured in a roadside bomb explosion on the southeastern outskirts of the city.
It was not immediately known who might have been behind the bombings but Taliban militants who are waging an insurgency against the government of President Hamid Karzai have been behind most such attacks in the past.
