The Star

SINAR Harian reported that the Kuantan Syariah High Court has allowed the application of Jeffrey Or Abdullah (Or Boon Hua) to exit Islam as he had not practised the religion since embracing it 14 years ago.

Judge Datuk A. Rahman Yunus said the decision was reached after listening to the statements of four witnesses.

"According to the statements, Jeffrey did not follow the teachings of Islam from the beginning and the court decides that he is no longer a Muslim.

"Jeffrey had also told the witnesses that he never believed in Islam and had continued living like a non-Muslim, doing things that included drinking alcohol, gambling, eating pork and visiting the temple."

A. Rahman added that Jeffrey had registered with the Pahang Islamic Council on Jan 20, 1994, only so he could marry his ex-wife and had never learnt or practised Islam for the duration of the marriage.

Jeffrey, who has two children from the marriage, also said he did not believe in Islam and had continued believing in Buddhism.
