DHAKA - At least 18 people were killed and 40 injured on Friday when a crowded bus crashed into a tree about 150 km (90 miles) southwest of Dhaka, police said.

The accident happened just after midnight. Police said visibility was poor due to fog.

Road accidents are common in impoverished Bangladesh, often blamed on poor roads and reckless driving and killing around 4,000 people a year.
