Asian stocks gain at opening

KUALA LUMPUR
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index rose 2.41 points, 0.20 per cent, at 1,235.84 at the opening.

TOKYO
Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.3 per cent on Tuesday, bouncing back from the two-week closing low hit the previous day as resource-related shares such as trading house Mitsui gained after oil closed at a record high.

As of 8.01am Singapore time, the benchmark Nikkei average added 35.14 points to 12,952.65. It fell 3.1 per cent on Monday to book its lowest close since April 1.

The broader Topix index was up 0.7 per cent at 1,248.31. -- REUTERS
