Wulan to gain weight for new role

JAKARTA - Actresses generally work hard at staying slim, so how willing are they to plump up if a good role demands it?

Twenty-nine-year old Wulan Guritno says she doesn't mind.

For her new role in Ruma Maida, a historic film directed by Teddy Soeriaatmadja, Wulan has gained 5 kilograms.

"I did it for the movie," she said. "Fortunately it's easy for me to lose weight because I like sport."

Wulan was required to look more mature for her lead role as Berta, a Dutch-Indonesian character, and the 5 kilograms has apparently worked wonders.

"I don't mind," Wulan said of the weight gain. "The movie itself is great. It's loaded with history, as it retells the story of the Youth Pledge." -The Jakarta Post/Asia News Network
