THIS animated adaptation of the classic Charles Dickens novella by Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express) boasts state-of-the-art 3-D effects. They lend extreme realism to the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come (which may be unsettling for children), and to the facial expressions of Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey). It is surprisingly disaffecting for a Christmas tale.
