
SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at a factory in Woodlands at around noon today, February 9.
Eyewitnesses sent in pictures to citizen journalism website Stomp showing thick plumes of smoke emerging from Marsiling Industrial Estate.
The fire, said to have occurred at around 12.15pm, has been put out by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
SCDF told local media outlets that they first received notice of the fire at 12.01pm. Two fire engines, two light fire attack vehicles, five support vehicles and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.
SCDF added that there were no casualties. Staff had already been evacuated by the time SCDF arrived.
The spokesperson said that the fire occurred at the fourth floor of a factory at 28 Riverside Road. The fire remained confined to that floor and was extinguished at about 1.40pm.
A local news channel reported that the fire involved paint and thinner. The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Stomper Joseph said the smoke plumes could be spotted from as far as Yishun.
