More than half of all imitation brand name goods confiscated in South Korea this year were replicas of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, a government report showed Wednesday, according to Yonhap news.
Authorities discovered 38,016 cases of fake goods from January through August this year, the Korean Intellectual Property Office said in the report submitted to parliament.
The most often counterfeited brand was Louis Vuitton, accounting for 54.6 percent or 20,783 cases, followed by Swiss label MCM, Chanel, Nike, Adidas and Agatha, the report said.
South Korea is famous for its "super fake," or "class A,"designer goods that are said to be perfect imitations of the originals, and a source of trade- and copyright-related disputes with foreign countries.
