SHAH ALAM - A newborn boy, with the umbilical cord still attached, was found in a paper bag hung on a signboard yesterday. District police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Azlan Jamaluddin said a passer-by, who heard faint cries and saw some movement in the bag decided to check the content, made the shocking discovery.

Noor Azlan said the bag was found hanging on a signboard near the Brunsfield Apartment traffic lights in Section 13 here about 5.30pm.

The boy was found wrapped in a batik cloth with the placenta also inside the bag.

It is believed the baby was delivered barely an hour before being found.

The baby is in a healthy condition and has been sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for a medical check-up.
