KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Tom Jones, the voice behind some of the most enduring ballads of the 70s, is set to perform here on March 19.
The 69-year-old Welsh-born singer will take the stage at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here, to promote his latest album 24 Hours.
The concert, organised by Tangerynedream Sdn Bhd, offers Malaysian fans a chance to catch the living legend live, performing tracks from his latest album and also his evergreen hits such as It's Not Unusual, Green Green Grass of Home, Delilah, She's a Lady and What's New Pussycat.
Fans can look forward to an exuberant performance that includes tight trousers and billowing shirts as part of its wardrobe, worn in an Edwardian style, which was popular in the 60s, but with a very present feel.
With an incredible career that spans over 45 years and armed with a rare ability to cut across generations and genres, appealing to both young and old, he has remained steadfast to his pop and modern soul roots.
The album, which has been recently certified gold, is a collection of mostly original songs that Jones has co-written, and containing some of his most personal and revealing works in his five-decade long career.
Aside from his evergreen hits, fans would also get to hear hits like Sex Bomb, which he recorded with Mousse T. and Kiss together with The Art of Noise.
Jones, who can be regarded as "music royalty", has been travelling from one sold-out show to another in the last 10 years.
His unique vocal power, talent and charismatic persona have made him one of the most respected, admired and loved performers in the music world.
His huge fan based built over the years is testimony to this fact.
