She waited her whole life for this.

After being in the music industry for five years, local singer Tay Kewei has moved from being a backup vocalist for popular singers like David Tao and Wang Lee Hom to solo artist with her very own debut album.

The 27-year-old composed five original tracks on her newly-minted album, "Come Closer with Kewei". She also included nine covers, such as Coldplay's "The Scientist" and Five For Fighting's "Superman".

"It was tough (producing this album) because I'm not new to the scene, "said the petite singer-songwriter with a set of emotive vocals.

"At the same time, not many people know about me so I have to include cover tracks to let more people get to know my voice."

Also adept at the erhu, the mulit-talented musician took up RazorTV's challenge of playing different genres of music on her erhu.
