If orange is your kind of colour, the new Oppo A77s for 2022 has got to be a shoo-in.

Thanks to a unique manufacturing process, the Sunset Orange model sports a vibrant orange and unique leather-like surface made from a blend of fibreglass and leather.

The other colour option, Starry Black, features their signature Oppo Glow finish that changes colour depending on the viewing angle and lighting conditions and mimics stars shining gently across the dark night sky.

Oppo calls the new look Ultra-Slim Retro Design, and the A77s measures just 7.99mm thick and weighs only 187g (the Sunset Orange model is 8.04mm thick and weighs 190g because of the finish).

The 6.56-inch Color-Rich LCD display has a 90 Hz refresh rate with colour space coverage of 100 per cent DCI-P3. To round up its multimedia credentials Oppo added a pair of Ultra-Linear Stereo Speakers with Dirac 3.0 optimisation.

Camera-wise, the A77s has a 50MP AI Dual Camera with new features like Bokeh Flare Portrait to capture portrait images with rich bokeh light spots like a professional camera, while Selfie HDR provides clear selfies even under dimly lit or backlit conditions.

Under the hood, it's pretty much business as usual: A tried and tested Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 4G SoC with 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM, with RAM Expansion tech to augment the original RAM up to 8GB. The phone also has an SD card slot that supports up to 1TB of extra storage.

The A77s runs on ColorOS 12.1 and includes new security features such as Photo Data Privacy, which lets you remove metadata easily, while Privacy Dashboard let you see and manage how apps can access your personal data.

Other features include FlexDrop, which lets you keep an additional app open in a small floating window for multitasking, while Three-Finger Translate (with Google Lens) supports over 100 languages and can quickly translate text in the selected area of a screenshot.

The large 5,000mAh battery is accompanied by 33W Supervooc Flash Charge can be fully charged in 71 minutes, and can provide over 14 days of standby. With Optimised Night Charging, the A77s uses AI to learn your sleeping habits and develops a tailored charging plan to prevent over-charging the battery.

The Oppo A77s (8GB RAM + 128GB ROM, $329) will be available in Sunset Orange and Starry Black from Dec 1 at Oppo concept stores islandwide and across OPPO's Amazon, Lazada, Qoo10, Shopee and TikTok flagship stores, authorised retailers, and partner consumer electronic stores.
