Boracay is known as one of Asia's most expensive beaches to holiday at - but did you know, if you visit the island during its least expensive week, you can easily save over $500.

According to TripAdvisor, picking the correct week to visit a holiday spot can be crucial in cost savings for holiday-makers out there. It also listed out the best week to visit popular destinations during the first quarter of 2016.

For Boracay, visiting during the week of March 7, 2016, can garner you the most savings.

If you are planning to visit Hong Kong or Taipei next year, it might be useful to take note of the cheapest week to visit these places to profit from savings of over $300 on flights and hotel.

Hong Kong, a bustling Chinese city known for its shopping and dining, is most affordable if you fly over during the week of Jan 4, 2016.

TripAdvisor's survey shows that a weekend there typically costs on average $2,689. But if you visit on the week suggested by them, you can save around $299 on hotel and flights.

Be sure to include attractions such as Hong Kong Disneyland, Man Mo Temple and hiking on Victoria Peak in your itinerary.

Taipei, another popular Chinese city with beautiful scenery and night markets, can be considered expensive, costing an average of $2,536 for a week.

If you visit during the week of January 18, 2016, tourists can save around $319 as the average cost for a week-long holiday drops to $2,217.

A week-long holiday in Taipei can give you ample time to take day-trips into nearby cities such as the colourful Taichung or port city of Keelung, known for its Miaokou Night Market and giant 22.5 metre Guanyin statue in Zhongzheng Park.

In the list of 10 popular holiday destinations near Singapore, the survey showed that Bangkok has the lowest cost for a night's stay, with an average hotel rate of $96, and Langkawi is the cheapest place to fly to at an average price of $257. Bali also topped the list as the most popular destination for Singapore travellers.
