This made my day: Porsche driver asks for lift from deaf Grab driver instead of compensation after accident

Another week, another magnanimous Porsche driver.

Last week's accident between a Porsche and a cabbie was resolved in a wholesome exchange with just $1.

This time, a Porsche owner extended an olive branch to a hearing-impaired Grab driver who had hit her on Feb 20. Her only request was to have him send her daughter to class.

Touched by the exchange, the driver's friend Muhsin Johari decided to share his story on Facebook on Friday (Feb 21).

The collision had left the Porsche with scratches and damaged paintwork. In a series of messages over Whatsapp, 50-year-old Simon Ng admitted to his mistake and apologised to the owner, saying he would pay for the damages incurred.

The owner of the Porsche, identified only as Wendy, later replied Ng informing him that repairs would amount to $250.

However, not only did she decide against reporting the incident for insurance, she didn't ask for a single cent from him either.

Instead, she wrote: "Perhaps in exchange as a form of compensation since you are a Grab, you can consider sending my daughter for her enrichment class for one day, as I won't have a car for a few days."

For Ng, Wendy's decision came about as a huge relief, according to Muhsin. Ng had also just left his previous job as an operations assistant to work as a full-time private hire driver and now struggles with a low wage due to the current virus outbreak, shared Muhsin.

He told Lianhe Wanbao: "The accident left him feeling uneasy, especially since the other car was a Porsche so that gave him extra stress. The owner's kindness really touched him."
