Student fined for knife attack

A private school student was fined $2,000 yesterday for attacking another student with a knife.

Chinese national Chen Shijie, 24, admitted to an amended charge of using the knife to slash Mr Wei Fangjie, 19, who is also from China, causing him to suffer cuts at the back of his head and on his lower back, reported The Straits Times online.

The incident took place on Dec 13 last year, outside PSB Academy, where both were studying.

Chen's lawyer Edmund Wong said his client had been bullied and assaulted by the victim physically and online.
