Where can I buy white sneakers and how can I make them last longer?

With the rising popularity of the streetwear look, sneakers have been seen everywhere. All white sneakers are a chic and streamlined alternative to more colourful styles.

Luckily most brands, from high-end to mass market, have been producing kicks in all black or all white, or releasing white versions of their classic models. They look best in court shoe or street sneaker shapes. Athletic shoes may look a bit too scruffy and gym-like.

In the designer sphere, Saint Laurent has a pair of chic white sneakers (photo 1, $690, from 01-25 Ion Orchard). Launched by Hedi Slimane first in 2012, the white leather sneakers are an exercise in restraint.

For more classic versions of white sneakers, you can turn to canvas brands such as Keds or Superga.

Keds' classic court shoe shape (photo 2, $59, from Stadium at B2-28 Takashimaya Shopping Centre) - all clean lines and bereft of unnecessary embellishment - is perfect for more girly outfits.

Superga also offers a white version of their classic sneaker (photo 3, $69.90, from Rockstar at 03-08 Orchard Cineleisure) with a sturdy rubber sole.

For a real blast the past, you can try classic sneaker brands like New Balance, which has a retro-style court shoe (photo 4, $139, from 02-10 Bugis Junction) in white.

If your pristine white sneakers get scuffed, spot wash the area with warm water and air dry the shoes. You can also take out the laces and wash them separately.

Some non-leather shoes can go in the washing machine or use a bit of detergent, but it is best to check with each individual brand for the most appropriate cleaning methods.
