Happy for the winner

Tay, 40, told TNP: "Sian (Hokkien for dejected, for not winning)...No lah, I'm still happy for the winner. It's in defeat that we learn we can do better."

"It's okay, I've faced not winning for so many years, I'm used to it."

Christopher Lee was absent from the awards ceremony as he was filming, while Qi was in Japan promoting his new drama Mooncake.

Pan Lingling, 40, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the Channel 8 drama Breakout, also took the loss in her stride.

She said: "Never mind, there's always a next time.

There will always be people who win and those who lose.

"I feel that my work has been recognised because this is an Asia-wide nomination. I'm content."

The Noose Season 4 won Best Comedy while one of its stars, Suhaimi Yusof,won the Best Comedy Performance by an Actor/Actress award.

The other nominees were his co-stars, Alaric Tay and Chua En Lai, Malaysian Yeo Yann Yann for Time FM, Filipino Michael V. for Pepito Manaloto, and Hong Kong's Moses Chan for Yes, Sir. Sorry, Sir!

As Suhaimi wasn't present, Chua and Alaric Tay took the chance to ham it upon stage.

Receiving the trophy on Suhaimi's behalf, Alaric Tay said: "Since we're such team players, I'll receive this on Suhaimi's behalf.

"He can look for it at my house...And next year, please remember me."

Chua, who won the award last year but wasn't at the awards ceremony, took his chance to say his belated thank-yous last night.

He said that he will pass his "crown" to Suhaimi when they next meet at MediaCorp.

Despite not winning this time, Alaric Tay, 32, told TNP: "I'm still having a good time with my friends, whom I consider family. I don't feel like my work is not acknowledged.

"The fact that I've been twice nominated in this awards (last year and this year) means that the work I do is still valuable."

Chua, 33, chirped: "I'll find a way to get rid of the winner."
