Adorable '4 Generations Challenge' is giving us the feels for Chinese New Year

Who's ready for a warm and fuzzy Chinese New Year?

Chinese netizens first lit up lip-syncing app Douyin (also known as Tik Tok) with the "Four Generations Challenge" last week, which has since spread around the world.

This is how it works:

The youngest family member -- a boy, for example -- calls out for his dad to appear, and he in turn calls out for his dad, who calls out for his dad. You get the idea.

And the result is simply heartwarming:

It's not just us when we say the fuzzy feeling intensifies when the great-grandparent appears.

And call us softies if you wish, but cue lump in throat when all videos are played in succession.

The first YouTube video posted on Jan 2 has received more than 150,000 views in five days.

A Facebook post shared a day later by Shanghaiist showing a compilation of videos gained more than 1.8 million views in less than a week.

US-based Buzzfeed writer Kassy Cho's Twitter thread has also been spreading the feels.

But on the downside, it has also made many people miss their grandparents.
