At DBS Marina Regatta, put the pedal to the metal to power up live music stations

Singapore’s biggest music portal Bandwagon has expanded into the world of experimental tech, and the first product under its Bandwagon Labs brand fuses clean energy, live tunes, and good old-fashioned leg power.

As part of the DBS Marina Regatta soiree currently ongoing at Marina Bay’s The Promontory, Bandwagon invites folks to put the pedal to the metal in order to power the live music stations they’ve erected.

Called Wheel for Watt, the setup basically consists of a pair of stationary dynamo-fitted bicycles that anyone can hop on and pedal to generate electricity, which is then used to power up amplifiers and speakers. Said amplifiers are used by the roster of buskers and performers gracing the event — so if you like their music enough to want to hear more, better put your back into it, son.

“By ‘working for your music’, we hope to get people thinking about renewable energy while raising awareness of how each and every movement can help generate electricity, just as easily as we consume it,” noted Bandwagon founder and CEO Clarence Chan.

Five of the Wheel for Watt stations will be scattered around the venue, and today’s your last chance to get some spin workout in while enjoying some live music by the bay. Deets here
