Gamescom will show off game announcements and new Death Stranding footage

If you were somewhat let down by how 'small' E3 felt this year, never fear! Gamescom is going to kick off in Cologne, Germany later this month and will see the presence of major industry players like Sony and Microsoft, who skipped the E3 floor earlier this year.

Geoff Keighley (of Game Awards fame) will be hosting a 'Gamescom Opening Night Live' to kick off everything on August 20, 2019 at 2 am Singapore Time.

Famed Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima will also be appearing in the flesh, to premiere a brand new look of his strange new game Death Stranding.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, Keighley also announced that the Opening Night Live presentation will also feature more than 15 publishers making content and new game announcements.

You can see some of the publishers that will be making an appearance below:

One has to wonder whether Sony will finally show off another trailer for The Last of Us Part 2, or if THQ Nordic will release more gameplay for the Destroy All Humans remake. Either way, Gamescom just got a whole lot more exciting with all these potential announcements!

Keighley also mentioned that the Opening Night Live event will be streaming across all major platforms, so you'll be able to catch it on Twitch or Youtube Live when it happens on August 20.
