Google Calendar gets facelift

The Google Calendar app has just received a facelift, with a bunch of new features thrown in as well.

While the old app was a manual affair, the updated one will help to automatically update your calendar by gathering information from your email inbox. So if you have an upcoming flight or concert, you will no longer have to copy and paste all the relevant details such as flight numbers or check-in times into your calendar as the app will do that for you. And best of all, it will even update the schedule should there by any changes.

The new Assists feature makes suggestions when you add details to an event, and will adapt to your preferences over time. The calendar app will even add a link to the location on the map. The new Schedule View includes maps and photos of your event location, as well as illustrations of everyday events like dinner or drinks to help brighten up your busy schedule.

The updated app will work on all Android 4.1+ devices and is slowly being rolled out to users. The iPhone version isn't available yet, though Google is already working on that.
