Pokémon is one of the biggest, if not the top video game franchises in the world. Thus it comes as no surprise that Tencent, one of China’s biggest tech companies is looking for a keen individual to join them to match their appetite.

The responsibilities of the role are so unique, you’d need to be a true Pokémon master to join their ranks.

Applicants need to have:

  • Cleared all Pokémon games with 900hrs+ playtime
  • Know the history of Pokémon
  • Have master ball ranking in Pokémon
  • Watched 500+ episodes of anime

Such keen criteria was spotted by Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad, who noted that Tencent is looking for 19 Pokémon-related jobs right now.

Honestly, this should not come as a surprise as Tencent is the official Nintendo Switch distributor in China. The video game situation in China is highly regulated with Nintendo’s current gen console being region locked into the country.

In addition, Tencent’s TiMi Studios is in the midst of developing the MOBA Pokémon Unite which totally makes sense of this hire. Thus this might very well be a hire for newer Pokémon products yet to be released into the wild.
