On Friday (June 16), Razer announced that the 2023 version of their most portable gaming laptop, the Blade 14, is finally available for sale. This sleek device is ideal for those who are looking for a laptop that has top-notch performance without the bulk and heft usually associated with gaming laptops. The Razer Blade 14 will be a good choice for gamers and creators who are always on the go.

This 14-inch device has a slim profile of just 17.99mm (0.71-inch) and weighs only 1.84kg (4.05lbs). So, if you move around a lot or already have a desktop at home, this will be your go-to portable powerhouse. The Blade 14 retains Razer's signature sleek minimalist design. Its body is made out of CNC-cut anodised aluminium which is also rigid and durable.

Even with its slim profile, Razer has not skimped out on the ports and the Blade 14 features two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 4 Type-C ports with power delivery and doubles as Display Port 1.4, a HDMI 2.1 and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combo jack.

When it comes to its 14-inch display, the Blade 14 has a 16:10 QHD+ (2,560 x 1,600) panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time and AMD FreeSync Premium support.

The display is also able to hit 500nits peak brightness and boasts 100per cent DCI-P3 colour space coverage. All this basically translates to rich, detailed visuals and crisp, buttery smooth action and experience whether you are gaming, watching movies or creating your next masterpiece.

Performance-wise, the Blade 14 is powered by the new AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor that boosts up to 5.2GHz and features AMD Ryzen AI, a dedicated artificial intelligence engine on Windows x86 processor that handles all AI workloads and frees up the CPU and GPU for traditional, non-AI tasks.

With Ryzne AI, gamers and creators gain access to AI-powered technology that enhances multitasking, productivity, collaboration, and efficiency, To further ensure that you always get the fastest and most responsive experience, the Blade 14 can be fitted with up to 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM and comes with a 1TB NVMe SSD. However, if that is not enough, you can upgrade both components personally and give your Blade 14 up to 64GB of RAM and up to 4TB of storage.

On the graphics processing unit (GPU) front, the Blade 14 can be fitted with up to the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU with 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM and a boost clock that goes up to 2175MHz. It also comes with all the bells and whistles of NVIDIA's latest GPUs such as support for DLSS 3, Ray-tracing and VR Ready.

One interesting (controversial) thing to note is that Razer has said that the RTX 4070 is able to achieve up to 140W Total Graphics Power (TGP), which is supposed to mean better performance. However, according to some reports, when it comes to the RTX 4070, the GPU actually hits its performance ceiling at about 110W TGP. Of course, there has not been any concrete tests just yet so do take this with a pinch of salt.

Last but not least, the Razer Blade 14 comes with a 68.1Wh battery that is said to be able to provide up to 10 hours of battery life. There is also now a new Battery Health Optimiser feature in the Razer Synapse software that gives you the ability to limit the charge capacity of the battery and prolong the health of the battery especially if you are someone who likes to keep your laptop plugged in. On top of that, with support for quick charging via the USB-C port, Razer says that you are able to get up to 80per cent of charge in an hour.

The Razer Blade 14 is available in two colours, Matte Black and Mercury White and is available for purchase at Razer.com with starting price of USD2,399.99 / ~SGD3,219 / ~MYR11,105.
