Before the ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational rumbles into the Singapore Indoor Stadium this December, the recent Campus Game Fest offered a glimpse of how a grand gaming event would look like at the Kallang stronghold.

And it was legit fun! The long-running festival organised by the Singapore CyberSports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) and the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) had plenty to offer during its two-day run, even for folks who may not be professional gamers. As a testament to just how big gaming culture has grown in the mainstream, 10,000 attendees dropped by the stadium over the weekend, while another 500,000 watched it all unfold online.

But nothing beats being on the ground to watch teams and individuals go head-to-head in various games, including League of Legends, Dota 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Magic: The Gathering, just to name a few. Even Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu dropped by to grace the launch of Campus Game Fest 2019 and the Girlgamer Esports Festival qualifiers.

Besides the intense prizefights, attendees were also more than welcome to play a couple (or if you’re like us, several) of rounds of other games, be it digital or analogue. From gliding down Rainbow Road in Mario Kart 8 to slicing virtual boxes in Beat Saber; from dealing cards in The Singaporean Dream to presenting jokey startup ideas to local celebrities with WELP Tonight — plenty of things to entertain yourself with, even if you’re a casual.

Missed out on things? No worries fam, we got the pictorial goods. Take a look below for some highlights we caught over the weekend.
