It's no secret that at least half of video game fans want their favourite titles and characters to be adapted to the small and big screens.

Thankfully, the establishment of PlayStation Productions means Sony has heard us loud and clear.

In wake of the announcement of the live-action The Last of Us TV series by HBO, Sony Pictures co-president Chris Parnell has also explicitly stated that it will be "the first of many shows" it plans to adapt at PlayStation Productions, which was established in May 2019.

"[The Last of Us] is the first of many shows we intend to develop with our friends at PlayStation Productions," explained Parnell to THR.

"The Last of Us is a brilliant achievement in storytelling and character development, and we are lucky to have the opportunity to work with this team to adapt it.

Of course, aside from TLoU, we already know that another first-party PlayStation game in the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg is in the works, as well as a Twisted Metal TV series.

This is certainly great news for fans of Sony's franchises, and will no doubt be clamouring for the likes of God of War, Ratchet & Clank and Horizon Zero Dawn to be adapted at some point.

If even God of War's director Corey Barlog can express his interest for such a thing to happen, then we know it's only inevitable.
